The Seille, a river whose source is in the Jura and flows into the Saône, is the best way to discover Bresse. It is navigable for 39 kilometres, from Louhans to Truchère. The Seille winds through the meadows and fields of Bresse. This will be an opportunity to see the cattle and chickens that have made this region famous, as well as fish abounding in the lakes and rivers. You might get the chance to sample "la Pôchouse": a freshwater fish stew simmered in white wine and served with croutons rubbed in garlic. |
